| About The Founders of The Heroes Club™ |
| As founders we share a goal of creating real, positive impact on the youth in our lives, our country, and our world. We've been exploring separately how we might do so and together have discovered this fun, exciting way. Really, we get the chance to express what the presence of strong role models have done for us as we share the same opportunity with others.

| Mr. Batson is a business owner, entrepreneur, and creative technologist. His company, Set Sail Communications, operates a unique postcard advertising business, Insetcards, which provides postcards with embedded trading cards. Postcard advertising is a simple, visually powerful alternative and trading cards bring an unprecedented feeling of uniqueness, value, and long-term interest. In seeking to apply this unique product to socially conscious areas, Mr. Batson began to explore the possibility of a trading card series based on heroes. The Insetcards business can be explored at: http://www.insetcards.com. There are resources on that website if you would like to produce your own set of trading cards.
"I remember a casual conversation with a friend about heroes. We talked about ideas we had about how heroes, as real-life positive role models, embody a great teaching potential. I was dreaming of a business idea that included trading cards at the time and the heroes trading card series was born. As I began to do some research, I found an amazing book written by Dr. Dennis Denenberg and Lorraine Roscoe - 50 American Heroes Every Kid Should Meet. I knew immediately we shared a vision and over the past year working with Dennis I have come to so admire the deep passion he embodies for heroes and education. I realize, for myself, that learning about great men and great women and their accomplishments gives me confirmation and strength in what I am doing. These exact virtues are part of my life today - as I work to be a better person. This is a gift we can share; this is a 'club' I truly want to join." - Brian Batson
Brian has been the creator and developer of this site and the designer of the trading cards.
Mr. Batson has also begun the development of a story for kids who are inspired by their creativity, inventiveness, and curiosity - called Alien Inventors. This fun, fictional storyline presents the challenges that we each face and some interesting ways to solve them. One theme is consistent, inspiring kids to believe in themselves.

| Speaker: Inspirational, motivating, dynamic, powerful, humorous, creative, captivating! These are all words that have been used by teachers, book reviewers, parents, and conference attendees who have attended one of my speaking engagements. After being frustrated by the pop culture icons and the super-rich athletes who are displayed as heroes by our society, I have spent much of my life learning about true heroes and sharing their stories with other educators. I spent my educational career in public schools as a social studies teacher, elementary school principal, assistant superintendent, and professor. Currently, I present keynote addresses to conferences/ conventions for corporate, teacher, and parent groups. I also do teacher workshops and in-service programs. I have been called one of the most inspirational speakers in America by thousands of fans across the country. Join me in inspiring educators to bring heroes alive in the life of a child!

Author: The cornerstone of my work is "50 American Heroes Every Kid Should Meet!" which I co-authored with Lorraine Roscoe. It is a 2006 Notable Children’s Trade Book, it was featured in USA Today on March 20, and I was interviewed on CNN Live in April about my award-winning work. It is an interactive “kid-friendly” book that motivates kids (and adults) to explore the lives of heroes at home or at school. Each page includes an important quote by each hero, a short biography about each hero, photographs; a section where readers are encouraged to extend their learning, and other books about that hero. Over 50,000 copies have already been sold!
Educator: I am a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of The College of William and Mary. I began my career as a high school social studies teacher in Pennsylvania. While serving as an elementary school principal and assistant superintendent, I witnessed how many educators struggled with history education at all grade levels. After receiving my Doctor of Education degree from Penn State, I went on to become a Professor in the College of Education at Millersville University of Pennsylvania. At Millersville , I devoted much of my time motivating future teachers to make history come alive in America’s classrooms. My goal has always been to encourage future teachers to have true heroes to inspire them to make a differe
